Art schools usually offer training for a Bachelor of Arts degree, although many private schools of fine art offer 2-year associates degree programs as well. Masters of Fine Arts Degrees, or MFA’s, are also sometimes available depending on the institution. Training for this degree is often started by students at a very young age and throughout high school, and continues throughout an artist’s lifetime as they become more affluent in their technique.

Some careers in the field of arts do require a 4 year degree, such as a multimedia artist or an animator, but most jobs in the field typically require only 2 years of technical or vocational training. Popular careers pursued by students after graduating from art school include becoming a medical illustrator, a painter, a graphic designer, or a sculptor.

Many students also become independent artists and showcase their work at art shows and galleries to both gain attention and credibility in the trade.
