
The Presbyterian Church in American formed in 1973 in Alabama as the result of the combining of several different churches with similar beliefs and theological structures and the separation of the Presbyterian Church in the United States.
The church is of Protestant classification and of reformed Evangelical orientation. The official associations recognized by the PCA are the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council and the National Association of Evangelicals.
Currently, there are believed to be almost 350 thousand members in America practicing in more than 1,700 congregations, with a large degree of its constituencies being concentrated in the southern USA.
