The fundamental beliefs and ideology of this church do not adhere to any one religion, but rather incorporates beliefs, practices, and theological ideals from several different religions while supporting the "free and responsible search for truth and meaning."

It is believed that this church has a total of nearly 750,000 members in more than 1,000 congregations, with a majority of them being concentrated in the US.
